Isometric exercises are among the most effective and joint-friendly ways to maintain muscle health and function, particularly as we age. They provide a safe, controlled method for building and sustaining strength without the excessive joint strain or injury risk associated with traditional movements.
If you are new to FIS TV, starting with core strength is highly recommended. Our overall health and function rely heavily on a strong core; weakness here often leads to increased pain, stiffness, and compensatory movement patterns.
This introductory video will teach you the basic principles of isometric resistance training with the goal of muscle activation. Unlike traditional exercises that involve movement, isometrics strengthen your muscles by holding a static position under tension.
In this 10-minute session, we will use bodyweight and the floor to perform several positions covering core rotation, forward flexion, side bending, and backward extension. This will serve as an introduction to learning how to truly engage your muscles.
Remember that these positions can be easily modified to fit your specific needs. After completing this isometric routine, you should feel more relaxed and less tight, as isometrics are excellent for "waking up" muscle weaknesses. When muscles contract more effectively, we can move better.
Discover how gentle, precise exercise can help you feel more energized and empowered!
