Sports, exercise, and daily life requires us to perform similar joint actions over and over, leaving other motions and positions relatively untrained. Nothing that we do in life is symmetrical, leaving us with an overall sense of tightness. This tightness can be combated by improving our muscle strength over a wider range of positions.
In this Yoga practice, we will perform asanas from sitting, supine, standing and prone body positions to work against gravity and challenge muscle roles. Experience some slow, gentle combinations of postures strung together for their similar joint motions using a yoga strap and Yoga blocks to provide resistance.
We will visit many hip and trunk positions to improve such skills as sitting on the floor, balancing on one leg, being able to rotate through the trunk and spine, as well as forward and backward bends. I will use a blanket under my hips in some positions to make the postures feel more comfortable.
