All humans deal with some form of stress. It can be the very thing that makes us stronger. However too much stress that is un
unchecked and chronic can be detrimental to our wellbeing. In a modern world that is moving faster and faster, it is important that we take time to slow down and reset. Without these breaks, neither body nor mind get the downtime that they need.
Meditation can be extremely healing for the body. Paying attention on purpose can help us to feel more relaxed. In this body-scanning meditation, take time to observe your breathing and relax the body from head to toe, noticing where you are holding unecessary pockets of tension. This can be done in a seated or supine position.
The more we meditate, the more we can put stress in perspective, helping us to magage the effects of stress This shift in perspective helps us to better manage things when they arise.
Over time, mindfulness and meditation can shift our neural networks. This means that signals in our brain wire and fire differently after long-term meditation practice. Regular mediation helps us to stay calm, focused, and present.
