The original 34 Pilates Mat exercises were designed to strengthen the "Power House", as Joseph Pilates described. The Power House was not only a way to describe the abdominal and back muscles, but muscles that attach to the pelvis, femur, and lower leg. The hip muscles transfer forces directly into the trunk and spine. You will notice that when your hips are stronger, the trunk can move more freely. This video is well-paced and easy to follow, requiring no equipment except your body. You will achieve better balance, improved ankle stability, improved posture, and a feeling of stability in your spine.
