Video 455 | Isometric Hand and Fingers Boost (30 minutes) with Lauren Eirk
Everything • 14-Aug-2023
If you need a quick boost, or suffering from common syndromes like carpal tunnel or trigger finger, this 30-minute therapeutic sequence will help. The exercises demonstrated in this video are designed to strengthen the muscles that flex, extend, abduct, and adduct the individual fingers of the hand as they relate to the tasks that we depend on throughout our lives, such as grip strength. Weakness in these areas can cause pain, stiffness, and arthritis.
We will begin with finger isometrics of the second-fifth fingers, followed by isometrics of the thumb. Next, we will integrate these muscles to perform essential motions of the palmar and dorsal sides of the hands. This will be equipment-free with the exception of a tennis ball to work on gripping.
This routine can be done anywhere, anytime. It can reduce fatigue after exercise, as a prevention from injury, and to help manage your muscle strength. This can also be used as a warm-up or as a workout in itself. Isometrics are the precursor to adding any load and challenge to our body.
