Excessive sitting is a major health concern. When we sit or lie down for too long increases our risk of chronic health problems. Too much sitting overall and prolonged periods of sitting also seem to increase the risk of death from cardiovascular disease and cancer.
In this workout, practice a variety of exercises to target joint positions and muscle contractions that are not active when we sit. Using a TheraBand and bodyweight, we will first work on seated exercises to isolate specific muscles that cross the ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, and spine. The chair is also used as a support for squatting and lunging movements to get you out of the chair. Finish with powerful lower body exercises and Yoga-inspired isometrics.
