As we age, it is important to keep our bones strong, for people with more advanced osteoporosis have a higher risk of spinal fractures. For this reason, core training may be tricky, considering many are told by their health care provider not to rotate, bend forwards, or bend backwards.
In this workout, learn how to train muscles that bend and rotate the spine without having to actually move into these positions. We will use a chair for support, a dumbbell for load, and a TheraBand to alter the resistance placement. Train the motions of the spine through spinal stabilization, or bracing of the involved muscles. Learn how to train the muscles without risk of spinal fracture.
