Gluteus medius is a large fan-shaped muscle located in the outer, posterior hip, against the pelvis and femur. It produces abduction (moving out to the side) and rotation. The gluteus medius muscle stabilizes the pelvis while standing or walking. Weakness in this area affects the hip, knee, and foot. That is why it is so important to keep it strong!
In this short video, we will begin with some sideling plank exercises, then we will transfer to the wall to practice single leg lifts using a thigh band. Once we work with bodyweight, I will show you an optional step up exercise with dumbbells for further challenge. We will finish with some powerful one-legged squats, hip hinges, and killer floorwork!
